Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important official stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
